A good start

Oh hello again!!

Sorry for the blogging hiatus, but I had to take a few weeks off to finish the long list of commitments requiring my attention – mainly end of year assessment for my Masters program, but also some work-related tasks that I absolutely HAD to get finished… the latter of which are soon to manifest into something V exciting! But more on that later…

Now, however, I’m back from the ether. This means I have energy and brainspace for blogging again. It also means I have energy to get back into the kitchen, which is what I what I wanted to share today. A delicious, healthy breakfast treat. Yum!

Cacao almond granolaI am a fan of breakfast and I advocate a good start for all of my patients.

Some people can’t stomach much in the early part of the day (am married to one) whereas others wake up ready to eat a full plate (am one). Whichever you are, the key to starting the day well is having healthy choices on hand.

Over the weekend I finally made my own granola; something I’ve been meaning to do for ages, as I’m a big fan of muesli-based brekkies… but I never got around to it. Why? Dunno. It’s damn easy actually. Good to know!

There are heaps of great recipes out there and in this instance I used this Cacao & Almond Granola recipe from nutritionist Jess Cox. It is stellar. Full of good fats, fibre, complex carbohydrates, protein and yummy flavours. I highly recommend it with generous dollop or two of natural yoghurt.

Check it out!
